Justice Stephen Breyer served as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1994-2022. Prior to the Supreme Court, he served as the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, Chief Counsel of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, and Assistant Special Prosecutor of the Watergate Special Prosecution Force. He has taught at several Universities including Harvard Law School and the University of Rome. Justice Breyer’s new book, Reading the Constitution, deconstructs the textualist philosophy of the current Supreme Court’s supermajority and makes the case for a more pragmatic approach of the Constitution.
